More trouble in Kansas.
--The Leavenworth (K. T.) Times has information
from Southern Kansas that sixty dragoons, under Captain Sturgis,
accompanied by the Indian Agent, Cowan, had been driving the settlers
from what is known as the Cherokee neutral lands.
The Times' correspondent states that seventy- four houses had been
burned and the occupants turned out. Much excitement prevailed in
Southern Kansas, but it is thought the statements are greatly
exaggerated.
